The California Post broke the story first and then multiple NFL insiders confirmed the report. Steve Wyche, in particular, obtained a statement from Nacua's attorney who provided more details about the decision.

"Puka takes responsibility for his well-being and increasing his performance during the off-season," Nacua's attorney Levi McCathern said. "So, in early March - before any temporary restraining order was filed by Madison Atiabi and subsequently denied by the Court - Puka voluntarily entered a holistic care facility to focus on his personal growth.

"He is committed to using this time constructively so that he can return in the best possible position - both personally and professionally - to continue contributing to his team and the game he loves. He will complete the program in plenty of time to be involved in all of the Rams OTAs. Puka is also deeply grateful for the support he has received from his family, friends, coach (Sean) McVay, and teammates.

"It is unfortunate that a trivial lawsuit has drawn attention to Puka during a time when he is focused on becoming a better overall person. I am really excited to see what the future holds for this gifted young man."

The Los Angeles Rams consider this to be a personal situation, per Wyche. This follows comments from McVay, who said during the Annual NFL Meeting that the team would put their arms around the receiver.

Nacua enters rehab while becoming the focus of headlines. He previously issued an apology for performing an "antisemitic act" on a livestream. He then became a defendant in a lawsuit filed in late March.

According to the Associated Press, a woman sued Nacua for assault and battery. She alleged that he made an antisemitic comment and then bit her on the shoulder on New Year's Eve. She said that this bite left teeth marks on her shoulder. The plaintiff also alleged that Nacua bit her friend's thumb.

McCathern denied that Nacua made these remarks. He described the alleged bites as "horseplay," per AP.

Nacua, a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has become a major part of the Rams offense. He has posted two seasons with at least 1,400 yards while earning two trips to the Pro Bowl. He fell 10 yards short of another 1,000-yard season in 2024 despite missing six games due to injury.
