According to NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk, the league fined Jennings $12,172 for striking Moehrig after a 20-9 49ers win. It was in response to an incident that occurred earlier in the fourth quarter. Moehrig used his fist to punch Jennings in the groin. The 49ers receiver did not respond immediately. He waited several minutes before throwing a strike of his own.

This hit occurred as players took part in the standard post-game discussions before heading to their respective locker rooms. The cameras showed Jennings walking over to Moehrig and striking the safety in the facemask area. Panthers linebacker Krys Barnes then pulled the receiver away before a 49ers staff member took over.

The NFL said it would examine these two incidents, as well as others that occurred in the game, for possible penalties. The league quickly suspended Moehrig for one game. Four days later, the league fined Jennings.

"I was just responding, to me, to some childish behavior," Jennings told media members after the game. When asked why he waited, he said the window is small and he didn't want to make any mistakes.

The NFL has taken a hard stance on what it deems to be unsportsmanlike conduct while issuing fines and suspensions this season. Several players have received punishments for actions before, during, and after games.

Officials ejected Eagles defender Jalen Carter at the start of the season-opening game for spitting on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. This became a served suspension, which paired with a fine.

Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase also received a one-game suspension for spitting on Steelers defender Jalen Ramsey. The officials ejected Ramsey from this game for punching Chase in retaliation.

Officials ejected Panthers receiver Xavier Legette and Browns safety Rayshawn Jenkins from a preseason game after a wild fight. Both players received fines for their actions.

The list of penalized players continues with Lions safety Brian Branch, who received a one-game suspension for punching Chiefs receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster after a game.

It also features Broncos linebacker Dre Greenlaw, who received a suspension after the league said he chased down and "verbally threatened" referee Brad Allen after a game.

Many other players have received fines and harsher punishments this season for actions toward each other and the referees. It's a long list. Fortunately for the 49ers receiver, his punishment for striking another player is relatively minor.
