NFL.com mock has Cowboys swinging for the fences

Interesting choice in the most recent mock.

The Dallas Cowboys are in a unique position heading into the NFL draft.

In need of a quarterback for the future, the Cowboys also need a defensive tackle and linebacker. With the No. 4 overall pick Dallas can acquire a real game-changer.

That's exactly what makes NFL.com's selection at No. 4 so interesting.

With Cal's Jared Goff off the board, but Memphis' Paxton Lynch still on the board, Daniel Jeremiah has Dallas taking North Dakota State's Carson Wentz.

Wentz has a decent arm, good size and the right measures for a quarterback that can pick up first downs with his legs, but also stand in the pocket.

NFL.com has Wentz compared to a Blake Bortles type that needs some polishing, which is exactly the type of quarterback the Cowboys could use behind Tony Romo. Wentz projects as a first-round talent, but No. 4 seems like a stretch.

Wentz could play under the Cowboys coaching staff at the Senior Bowl, which certainly would give an up-close and personal look at how he could develop in Dallas.
