NFL fans celebrate the return of snow football

Football in the snow — there is nothing better in the eyes of football fans. This is something they made explicitly clear on Sunday afternoon while watching a divisional-round playoff game.

The surface at Lincoln Financial Field was clear during the first quarter of the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams. It did not remain clear as heavy snow began falling. The precipitation created slippery conditions as visibility decreased.

Not all of the players may have enjoyed the experience, but the fans fully embraced the viewing experience.

"How can you not be romantic about snow football," asked CBS Sports' Tom Fornelli on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. Many other analysts and fans alike weighed in with similar comments. Some said the snow football was a soothing experience while others just said that it was "really cool."

The Eagles players showed their excitement about competing in the snow. Members of the defense took an opportunity to make snow angels after forcing one of multiple turnovers. Saquon Barkley decided to slide through the back of the end zone after breaking free for a 78-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

"Love snow games," another football fan posted. "Reminds me of good, old school football, from back in the day. Didn't seem to bother the linemen or Saquon on the long TD run."

The heavy snow made an impact on the divisional game between the Rams and Eagles, but the evening was not done once the clock reached 00:00 at Lincoln Financial Field. The NFL fans still had another playoff game to watch, one that took place in Erie County, New York.

The Ravens and Bills capped off divisional weekend with a playoff game at Highmark Stadium. As videos showed, the snow began to fall as kickoff approached. It started to accumulate on the field as Lamar Jackson and the Ravens ran out of the tunnel.
