The Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles were on tap to close out week two of the NFL season. The two franchises squared off at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. But in this matchup, the spotlight was on ESPN Monday Night Football analyst, Joe Buck.
Fans Slam Joe Bucks's Analysis
Buck has not had the most favorable relationship with NFL fans since the beginning of his NFL career. And Monday Night's matchup between the Eagles and Falcons was not different. Fans on social media didn't hold back with their criticisms of the NFL analyst.
"I can't stand Joe Buck! I wished they'd mute his mic! You could partner Aikmen with a [redacted] and IT would be better than having to listen to Buck," one user said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Troy has Called Bijan every name other than Bijan and Joe Buck can't get the downs correct. The only bright spot from this crew has been Jason Kelce in the booth for a quarter. #JoeBuckSucks," another user added.
"Joe Buckjoe buck drank some of Kelce's beers the way he's commentating," another user said.
Analyst Speaks Out on Move to ESPN
Before joining ESPN in 2022, Buck was a Fox Sports. The star analyst joined the network in 1994, spending the majority of his career there. But in 2022 Buck received the opportunity of a lifetime. The chance to do color commentary for Monday Night Football.
Monday Night Football job is one of the most coveted gigs in the industry. And Buck remains grateful for the opportunity. But he says in making the transition to ESPN from Fox the entire ordeal came out of nowhere.
"It was so out of nowhere. If you think about it, we're not that far removed from the Super Bowl and I left the Super Bowl thinking I was gonna at worst have Troy in kind of a split setup [with Amazon] where I would get him for the late afternoon games, postseason and Super Bowl, which was great," Buck said.
"[Fox] They have their reasons and they have the business that they're running, and Troy had an out and he had a chance to go out on the market and see what he [could] get. But I think all along, his No. 1 choice was to go back to Fox, and that's what I was hoping for and that didn't materialize."
