NFL instant replay booth lands on Facebook Marketplace

Facebook Marketplace is the home of an assortment of wild items for sale. One of the most fascinating is an NFL instant replay booth with an asking price of $250.

The item in question showed up on the Jefferson County Buy, Sell, and Trade public group based in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The seller included several images of the portable unit, some showing it in use on the sidelines. The weatherproof cover features the NFL Instant Replay HD logo. The heavy-duty travel case also has NFL Instant Replay logos.

"This is an instant replay booth used by the NFL in days gone by," the item description reads. "It's currently outfitted for audio/visual equipment.

"The outside looks used, but the inside looks new. Includes several canopy/awning covers. Would also be great for musicians who travel."

The instant replay booth comes from a different era of NFL football, one featuring Brett Favre playing for the Vikings and Brandon Lloyd playing for the Broncos. This era required officials to "go under the hood" any time they needed to watch the replay to determine the outcome of a particular play.

The NFL has gone in a different direction as the technology has improved. These large instant replay booths no longer sit on the sidelines of stadiums across the country.

When an official such as Brad Allen has to watch an instant replay, they will walk over to a person on the sidelines holding up a Microsoft Surface-branded box. Inside the box is a tablet showing the play.

This partnership with Microsoft does not solely focus on the instant replay system for challenges, turnovers, or questionable touchdowns. It also provides Surface tablets to all of the teams so that they can examine photos, rewatch plays, and make notes. The NFL has called this system the Sideline of the Future since 2014 when it debuted.

With the NFL moving to the Surface for instant replay, it is possible for old booths to land on Facebook Marketplace. These booths fit in well with some of the more bizarre items that have been available over the years. Granted, the instant replay booth has not yet made it onto the Facebook Marketplace Reddit highlighting the weirdest items.
