Police said that Cunningham's death was self-inflicted, per RLS Media.

"Cunningham, aside from his NFL career, was also known for his entrepreneurial efforts, being the registered agent for K5 LOGISTICS LLC, a New Jersey-based company he filed on November 2, 2023 our research team found out," Richard L. Smith of RLS wrote.

Cunningham played college football at the University of Cincinnati before being selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He appeared in 31 games total with the Cardinals, New England Patriots and New York Giants from 2018-22.

"His journey in the NFL included numerous signings, trades, and recoveries from injuries," Smith wrote.

"Cunningham's final contract with the Giants was a one-year deal worth $1,080,000, signaling a promising continuation of his athletic pursuits which was tragically cut short."

The Giants released a statement on social media.

It sounds like Cunningham had quite a tumultuous journey in the NFL, filled with ups and downs. His resilience in overcoming injuries and navigating through various signings and trades is commendable. It's tragic that his promising career was cut short, especially considering his final contract indicated a hopeful continuation of his athletic pursuits.

As for the circumstances surrounding his death, it's reassuring to hear that authorities haven't found any signs of foul play. However, it's always saddening when someone's life ends unexpectedly, especially someone who had such potential and determination.

"We are saddened to hear of the passing of Korey Cunningham," the post read. "He was a vital part of the spirit and camaraderie of the locker room. Our thoughts are with Korey's family, friends and teammates."
