According to multiple NFL insiders, Drew Lock will get the start for the Giants as the packed Thursday slate continues. He will replace Tommy DeVito, who continues to deal with a forearm injury.
DeVito, who made his first start of the season last weekend against the Buccaneers, had an MRI and other tests done on his forearm before making the trip to Dallas for the Thanksgiving game.
DeVito had become the starter after the Giants benched and subsequently released former first-round pick Daniel Jones.
Lock, a former second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, has attempted nine passes for the Giants this season. He has completed four for nine yards.
Now he will lead the offense in what is becoming a battle of backup quarterbacks. Cooper Rush will continue to lead the Cowboys as Dak Prescott remains on Injured Reserve with a leg injury.
Lock last started a game last season when he played for the Seahawks. He appeared in four games while starting two. His first start was against the 49ers. Lock threw for 269 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions as the Seahawks lost 16-28.
Lock's second start was far more memorable. He faced off with the Eagles and threw for 208 yards and one touchdown. The stats were not eye-popping, but his touchdown throw was a 29-yarder to Jaxon Smith-Njigba with 28 seconds left in the game.
This throw capped off a 92-yard drive, the team's longest of the season. It helped the Seahawks upset the favored Eagles and snap a four-game losing streak.
Lock will once again take center stage against an NFC East team. This time, it will be on Thanksgiving as he tries to get the Giants their third win of the season.
The Giants and Cowboys face off on Thursday. Kickoff is set for just after 4:30 p.m. ET. Fox will provide coverage.
