NFL Players Polled On Whether Or Not Taylor Swift Is Good For The League

Pop star Taylor Swift may be one of the biggest celebrities in the world, and after her romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce went public in September 2023, it appears a new wave of football fans have arrived, as NFL viewership is at an all-time high.

That is to say, while some believe it is too much of a distraction to have the cameras always focusing on her at games, others think it is good for growing the popularity of the NFL to new heights.

In view of a poll that was recently done, over 100 NFL player were asked (by The Athletic), if Taylor Swift's romance has had a positive impact on the league, and 74 out of 102 players believe that the singer/songwriter's interest has been a net positive.

Not to mention, an additional 23 players polled appeared to be indifferent, just simply fine with the Swift-mania.

Nevertheless, there are some who are not so fond of the attention Swift has received.

One anonymous player said it may take away from the game.

"I feel like she is getting unnecessary coverage. There was the whole NFL opening season video on Twitter and she was featured five times and our quarterback was featured none. That's not even right. She is not the NFL."

To point out, so far this season, Taylor went to the first two Chiefs games, but she's missed the last two, as she may be preparing for some upcoming "Eras" tour shows.

All in all, the general take around the league is that Swift has had a positive effect on the league, for it brings in more views, which may lead to an increase in salary cap down the line.

The next possible chance to see Swift at a Chiefs game will come on Monday Night Football vs. the Saints, October 7 at 8:15 pm ET.
