This issue began occurring as the RedZone Channel went to the game between the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars, which was only two minutes into the first quarter. Hanson said, "quick update from the Colts" before the static took over the broadcast.

The static continued overpowering the broadcast as Colts quarterback Daniel Jones threw an interception. Meanwhile, NFL fans began expressing their anger about this update on social media.

"(Seven) hours of commercial free static, and it starts right now," one fan posted on X after the audio issues persisted on the RedZone channel. Others weighed in while posting photos of NBA player Klay Thompson with blood running from his ear.

Some other NFL fans also took issue with a problem that has become prevalent this season. They pointed out that the long-running football channel already had an increasing number of ads. Now, it had persistent audio issues.

The static ultimately went away after an extensive amount of time, but the anger remained for the fans as they continued talking about the "downfall" of the once-popular subscription channel. A large part of the anger also involved the number of ads taking over the screen.

The first week of the NFL season featured only four ads on the RedZone broadcast, per NBC Sports. This is no longer the case. The Sports Business Journal did a survey of the Week 13 broadcast and determined that the number of ads had increased to 16.

According to the outlet, the Week 13 broadcast included "eight 15-second double-box" ads and a 30-second double-box ad with DraftKings "once play wrapped up." Additionally, the broadcast featured eight banner graphic ads that lasted 20 seconds. These banner ads appeared last season while the double-box ads debuted this season as the NFL moved further into this new approach for the channel.
