Jim Harbaugh is now the highest-paid coach in college football by a comfortable margin, but that reportedly will not stop NFL teams from jumping back into the Harbaugh business if given the opportunity. Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report brings word that "several teams" are expected to present the former 49ers head coach with lucrative offers to leave the Wolverines after the 2016 season.
I keep hearing several teams are going to make the Michigan coach mega-offers. He won't take them. Harbaugh isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I don't care if he's offered a trillion dollars, a starship and a Cuban cigar. Harbaugh. Is. Not. Leaving.
That won't stop teams from trying.
As Freeman notes, it seems incredibly unlikely that Harbaugh would leave what appears to be a fantastic set-up in Ann Arbor. While some experts believe that Harbaugh is overpaid based on what he has done at the college level, "Michigan Men" everywhere are exceedingly pleased with his performance to this point, and with Harbaugh making $9 million per season, any NFL offer would likely need to reach eight-figures per season to even garner consideration.
Perhaps there is a world in which Jim Harbaugh would like to return to the NFL in pursuit of a Super Bowl win, but if money and status are selling points, the professional teams gearing up for a big run at him in the offseason might be disappointed with the end result.
