Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb has encountered another hurdle in his NFL career. He suffered a serious foot injury on Sunday during a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The veteran running back left the 21-7 loss with the injury and then head coach Kevin Stefanski announced after the game that it was a broken foot. Chubb will miss the final three games of the season. He will then become an unrestricted free agent, according to Spotrac.
This broken foot marks the second consecutive injury that prematurely ended the season for Chubb. He only appeared in two games last season and rushed for 170 yards.
Chubb missed the rest of the 2023 season after tearing his MCL and damaging his ACL against the rival Steelers. This was the same knee that he injured during the 2015 season while attending the University of Georgia.
The former second-round pick missed the first six games of the 2024 season while remaining on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. The Browns activated him for a Week 7 game against the Bengals. Chubb rushed for a touchdown, his first in 398 days.
The veteran added two more touchdowns on Nov. 21 as the Browns defeated the Steelers in a snow game. The second touchdown was the game-winner.
"I've gotten to have a first-row seat to what he's been able to do," Stefanski said about Chubb in his postgame press conference. "I can't tell you how much I respect him as a person, what he means to this football team.
"Really, really disappointed about this injury. Does not change the fact that he continues to inspire this football team with how he approaches every single day, and I know this is another obstacle he will overcome."
With Chubb missing the rest of the season, the Browns will once again have Jerome Ford leading the way. The former fifth-round Draft pick was the starting running back early in the season and has remained a key contributor throughout the season.
Ford has 87 carries for 451 yards and two touchdowns this season. He had 204 carries for 813 yards and four touchdowns last season as Chubb spent the majority of the year on Injured Reserve.
