Amazon MGM Studios announced that Madden, the long-awaited John Madden biopic, will premiere Nov. 18 on Prime Video, bringing the story of the legendary coach, broadcaster and video game namesake to streaming audiences worldwide.

Cage stars as Madden, tracing his remarkable rise from Super Bowl-winning coach of the Oakland Raiders to one of football's most recognizable voices and the face of EA Sports' wildly successful Madden NFL video game franchise.

The film features an impressive supporting cast, with Christian Bale portraying Raiders owner Al Davis, John Mulaney playing EA Sports founder Trip Hawkins, Kathryn Hahn as Madden's wife Virginia, Sienna Miller as Carol Davis and comedian Shane Gillis in an undisclosed role.

Acclaimed filmmaker David O. Russell, whose credits include Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, directed the project from his own screenplay.

Madden's impact on football stretched far beyond the sidelines. He coached the Raiders from 1969-78, winning Super Bowl XI while compiling one of the highest winning percentages in NFL history before launching a Hall of Fame broadcasting career that spanned more than three decades.

His partnership with EA Sports helped transform the Madden NFL franchise into one of the most successful sports video games ever created, introducing generations of fans to his larger-than-life personality and football philosophy.

Madden died in December 2021 at the age of 85, but his influence continues to resonate throughout the NFL. The upcoming film aims to tell the story behind the man whose name became synonymous with football, both on the field and in living rooms around the world.
