The Cleveland Browns are going nowhere fast, but one thing they apparently won't be doing is trading Myles Garrett.

Despite a 2-6 start and another season already slipping away, multiple reports say there is "zero chance" the Browns move their All-Pro pass rusher before next week's trade deadline.
As Pro Football Talk explained, the math alone makes it nearly impossible. Trading Garrett would create a $68 million dead cap hit in 2026, on top of the $46 million the team still owes Deshaun Watson that same year. That's a nightmare financial scenario even before considering the football fallout.
Still, it's a fair question. Should the Browns at least consider it? Moving Garrett could bring in a haul. As in, multiple first-rounders and cap relief for the future.
But it would also strip the defense of its only true game-changer and essentially signal a full-scale tank.
The Browns have flirted with analytics-driven rebuilds before, but this one would be tough to justify. Garrett remains in his prime and is one of the few reasons Cleveland games are even watchable. Trading him would mean punting on the next two seasons, at least.
PFT notes that if the Browns ever wanted to deal Garrett, they should've done it before handing him his latest contract. Between the Watson deal and the cap implications, the window for that kind of bold move has basically closed.
So for now, the Browns are keeping their best player — even if it means being bad with him instead of bad without him.
