Ever since the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ron Goldman, there has been no justice served for the killer. While the public perception is that it was NFL superstar running back O.J. Simpson who was behind the killings, he was acquitted a year later following a blockbuster trial.

That is, now 30 years later, after Simpson has passed away at 76 years old, his former bodyguard, Iroc Avelli, told police there was a recording of O.J. admitting to being behind the tragic unsolved double murder.

According to TMZ, Avelli alleged that there was a thumb drive which had the confession.
Evidently, cops seized a backpack containing multiple thumb drives via OJ's former bodyguard, as part of an investigation from a separate case in which Avelli was arrested for in 2022.
Bloomington PD in Minnesota say in June 2024, a couple months after O.J. died from prostate cancer, "They got a call from an LAPD detective who advised that Avelli and his attorney met with LAPD and told cops inside the green backpack was a thumb drive with the recording of OJ's confession" (TMZ).
However, with new updates surfacing following the search warrant, police in Minnesota said there was indeed no confession in the tapes. Even more, they state it was just Avelli talking to himself on a tape recording.
In view of the case, the former Buffalo Bills running back faced charges of murder, but he was acquitted in the infamous trial. Ultimately though he was found liable in 1997 when a separate civil trial took place.

All in all, the sentiment for LAPD and the general public is that Simpson did it, but he beat the case.
In regards to the recent news, the tip from Avelli has unfortunately not led to any new developments.
