It's no secret that Tampa Bay Bucaneers cornerback Vernon Hargreaves is already impressing his new coaches and teammates, even as a rookie. During a joint practice with the Cleveland Browns, the rookie managed to pick off Robert Griffin III twice during 7-on-7 drills.
However, one statistic found by Pro Football Focus may show the most about just how dominant VHIII has been in the Bucs' two preseason games against the Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars. According to PFF, Hargreaves, when he's targeted by quarterbacks has allowed a 0.0 passing rating. You read that right — 0.0. Here's an excerpt from what PFF had to say about Hargreaves in his two games.
"So far so good for Vernon Hargreaves III, who has seen two outings this preseason and performed well in both. He has been largely playing in the slot, and has the kind of quick-twitch movement skills and the ability to change direction that makes him perfect for that role."
If Hargreaves continues this trend, he'll start week one for the Bucs with ease.
