One team may have real, tangible interest in Adrian Peterson judging from his reported visit

The New England Patriots hosted former MVP running back Adrian Peterson for a visit on Monday, and there was speculation the visit was simply to put pressure on free agent RB LaGarrette Blount.

However, according to the Boston Globe's Ben Volin, the Patriots didn't just have Peterson come in for a visit—they also put him through a tryout.

Peterson was released by the Minnesota Vikings earlier in the offseason, but teams haven't been particularly interested in him thus far in free agency.

But the Patriots will need a power back if they don't re-sign Blount, and Peterson has already said he is willing to take a team-friendly contract to play for a contender.

Peterson is 32, and he missed most of last season due to injury. He probably will never be the same back he was when he won MVP, but he can still help a contender like New England—especially if most of the focus is on Tom Brady and the passing game.
