Packers RB Aaron Jones Sets Franchise Record vs. Cowboys

Running back Aaron Jones was a catalyst to the Green Bay Packers' fast start against the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Wild Card game, and etched his name in the franchise record book in the second quarter on Sunday afternoon.

When Jones reached paydirt on his second touchdown rush of the game, with 14:19 remaining in the second quarter, the 29-year-old set the franchise record for most postseason rushing touchdowns, with six.

Jones threw down a gauntlet on the Packers' opening possession, capping a methodical 12-play and 67-yard march down the field with a three-yard touchdown plunge.

Through the first two minutes of the second quarter, Jones had already rushed for 27 yards with a pair of scores.

The last time the Packers played the Cowboys in the at AT&T Stadium, Jones finished with four rushing touchdowns in a 34-24 victory back in 2019. In his Arlington return, Jones was off to a similarly fast start, leading the charge for the Packers.

The 2023 season couldn't get off to a worse start for Jones, who suffered a knee injury against the Bears in Week 1. Eventually, though, Jones became a focal point of the offense in Green Bay's playoff debut. Jones finished the regular season with 142 carries for 656 yards with a pair of touchdowns in 11 games.

"It is a sigh of relief to let them know like, hey, nothing's changed," Jones told The Athletic in a recent interview. "I'm still Aaron Jones."

Jones has typically saved some of his best performances for the posteason. In five career NFL Playoff games, Jones has rushed for 285 yards and six touchdowns, while averaging 4.38 yards per carry. Through the first half Sunday, the 2024 playoffs look to be no different, for Jones.
