The Carolina Panthers have dismissed football communications coordinator Charlie Rock after he posted an insensitive message about the death of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, according to multiple reports.

The move was first reported by the Charlotte Observer. OutKick NFL writer Armando Salguero noted that Rock shared a photo of Kirk on Instagram shortly after the 31-year-old political commentator was shot and killed Wednesday at Utah Valley University. Rock added the caption, "Why y'all sad? Your man said it was worth it ..."
Salguero described the post as "stunningly poor taste" and emphasized that Kirk's death left behind a wife, a three-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son. The Panthers' communications department now has three full-time staffers following Rock's dismissal.
Rock is not the only figure to face consequences for reactions to Kirk's death. Salguero pointed out that Middle Tennessee State University fired a dean who made offensive remarks, while MSNBC reportedly parted ways with pundit Matthew Dowd after his on-air comments.
The fallout shows how quickly social media comments can spark real-world consequences. Salguero wrote that while silence is often the safer option for high-profile figures and institutions, those who make reckless or offensive statements risk damaging both their own reputations and those of their employers.
Kirk, a prominent conservative activist, was killed during one of his events on Wednesday evening. The case remains under investigation by authorities in Utah and the FBI.
