Patrick, Brittany Mahomes Recall Son's Hospitalization Over Peanut Allergy

Patrick and Brittany Mahomes are widely considered sports royalty. The pair have ownership in several professional sports franchises and Patrick has created a dynasty within the Kansas City Chiefs organization, leading them to three Super Bowl titles. But the pair recently gave fans a look into the more human side of their personal life.

Brittany Mahomes Recalls Discovering Son's Peanut Allergy

 

Patrick and Brittany recently discovered that their son, Bronze, had a peanut allergy. Brittany recently recalled the situation where they learned of the allergy after he had a reaction that forced Brittany and Patrick to rush him to the emergency room.

 

"With Bronze, I was doing early introduction," she explained in an Instagram video "Just with the history of Sterling having allergies, I was trying out different things with Bronze."

 

During the introductory phase, Brittany added a packet of peanut powder to Bronze's bottle and that's when things took an unfortunate turn.

 

"He took his bottle and then within 30 or so minutes he became very irritable, very fussy. I took his diaper off and it was just hives and welts everywhere."

 

Patrick, Brittany Recall Scary Trip to Emergency Room

 

After discovering the allergy, Brittany recalled that seeing the welts "started a panic," inside of her and she had no choice but to rush Bronze to the emergency room.

 

"Just seeing his entire body covered in welts and hives and him being so uncomfortable. was probably one of the scariest moments of my life," Brittany added.

 

Patrick also added that they were fortunate that the doctors were able to help Bronze recover, but he also said that was a wake-up call to how serious food allergies can be, especially with young children.

 

"Luckily for us, the doctors were able to help," Patrick said. "and that's when, to me, it became a serious thing that I needed to really pay attention to."
