Patrick Mahomes might be enjoying some well-earned offseason downtime, but that hasn't stopped critics from trying to stir the pot, and his longtime trainer isn't having it.

After a photo surfaced of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback celebrating the Fourth of July on a boat, KCMO radio host Kevin Keitzman took the opportunity to go after Mahomes' appearance. According to TMZ, Keitzman referred to the two-time MVP as "fat" and an "embarrassment" on his podcast Monday, comments that sparked a swift and fiery response from Mahomes' trainer, Bobby Stroupe.
In a series of now-deleted posts on X (formerly Twitter), Stroupe clapped back hard at the radio host. "You don't have a clue what it takes," he wrote. "It's not a look, it's performance."
Stroupe, who's worked with Mahomes for years and helped shape one of the NFL's most dynamic athletes, challenged Keitzman to go through the quarterback's training regimen himself. The implication was clear: armchair takes don't hold up when you're the one doing the work.
While Keitzman's comments have largely been dismissed as a reach, Stroupe wasn't about to let them slide. He's developed a reputation for defending Mahomes against what he sees as unfair or uninformed criticism — and with a client like Mahomes, there's plenty to point to in his defense.

Since taking over as the Chiefs' starting quarterback in 2018, Mahomes has led the team to seven straight AFC Championship appearances and five Super Bowls, winning three of them. He's already joined an elite club of quarterbacks with three or more Super Bowl titles and is widely considered the best quarterback of his generation — if not already on the shortlist of the all-time greats.
Yes, Mahomes may appear a bit bulkier this offseason. But no, there's no real concern about his fitness or readiness. And if there was, it likely wouldn't come from someone behind a podcast mic.
As for Keitzman, the jab may have been more about stirring controversy than any genuine analysis. But judging by Stroupe's now-viral reaction, the quarterback's camp is more than willing to push back when the hot takes cross the line
