Patriots Coach Mike Vrabel Says Tom Brady Statue Could Use Some Tweaks

The New England Patriots unveiled a 12-foot bronze statue of Tom Brady outside their stadium on Friday night, and while the tribute has largely been met with praise, head coach Mike Vrabel thinks a few tweaks could give it that extra flair.

Vrabel, who played alongside Brady for eight seasons in New England, shared his thoughts on the statue during a Monday morning chat on WEEI's "The Greg Hill Show." While he acknowledged the sculptor did a solid job, Vrabel suggested adding some sunglasses and a "fancy shirt" to capture the current Brady vibe.

"I would say it's good. I thought ... you know, again, those are hard. I think that it's impressive and well-deserved. And so, now you'd have to change it up," Vrabel said. "They'd have to have some sunglasses on and some fancy shirt if they did that now. So I think it was a very good representation of Tom coming off the field."

But Vrabel wasn't exactly itching to discuss the statue too much. When asked if he had talked to Brady about it or if Brady had said anything to him, Vrabel's response was refreshingly blunt.

"Never said a word, and no, he didn't," Vrabel replied.

Vrabel and Brady, both key figures in three Super Bowl victories, have always shared a close bond, even if their playful jabs at one another have kept things interesting over the years.

Despite Vrabel's lighthearted critiques, the Brady statue has generally received positive reviews. And just to keep the excitement going, Brady took a moment during his speech Friday night to throw some ruthless shade at the New York Jets, giving fans one more reason to cheer.
