Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is officially ending his career on a high note — winning the Super Bowl and riding off into the sunset.

While it was almost a guarantee Manning wouldn't be back in Denver, reports note that the Los Angeles Rams had interest in the veteran quarterback, but he wouldn't have been guaranteed a starting gig, per the MMQB.
NFL Network's Albert Breer said much of the same:
When I asked a Rams source about it, interest seemed mild -- "You might be able to talk Jeff (Fisher) into it." https://t.co/SVXREbBzgi

MMQB also notes the Houston Texans might have had interest as well.
It seems Manning realized his time in the league truly was up and fighting for a starting gig on a squad unlikely to contend really had no value to his overall career makeup. What's next for Manning remains up in the air, but a Hall of Fame bid as soon as he's eligible should be in the works.
