Peyton Manning is Hoping Someone Breaks One of his Records Soon

Peyton Manning is a legend of the game. He has many records to his name, but there's one that he is more than eager to rid himself of. That would be the record for most interceptions in a single season by a rookie.

He did that 1998 when he tossed 28 interceptions over 16 games with the Indianapolis Colts. That mark has yet to be surpassed decades later. While appearing on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Friday, Manning joked that he is more than ready to give it up, but he doesn't want it to be accomplished by his former team's rookie quarterback, implying Denver's Bo Nix.

"It's always a little struggle with me. I want to get that interception record that I hold broken," Manning  discussed. "I don't want Bo Nix to break it... if the quarterback at Washington or Chicago wants to break it...I got to get that one off my resume."

Manning continued, "And you'd think with 17 games, Pat, somebody would break it."

The Hall of Fame passer went back and said he's "a big fan" of both Washington's Jayden Daniels and Chicago's Caleb Williams, along with the other rookies like New England's Drake Maye.

Putting aside his pursuit of hoping someone breaks his record, Manning did offer some valuable advice to the head coaches of the expected three starting rookie quarterbacks: leave them in. Okay, maybe not so valuable because he has an ulterior motive that sent McAfee and co-host A.J. Hawk into laughter.

"Don't take them out," he urged. "That's the only way you're going to get to 28 interceptions."

Jokes aside, it's likely going to happen soon with the NFL now playing one more game than Manning had to as a rookie. Like he said, though, coaches tend to have a quick trigger nowadays and if a rookie is struggling that bad, they may not be around long enough to throw 29 picks.

One thing we do know is that Peyton Manning will be rooting selfishly for one of these rookie's to break his interception record, even if may not fully admit it.
