Top Randy Gregory Landing Spots After Broncos Release Veteran Pass Rusher

The Denver Broncos parted ways with veteran pass rusher Randy Gregory, but a few teams could still be interested in him.

The Denver Broncos granted Randy Gregory his release on Wednesday, setting the veteran defensive end free to sign with any team he wishes.

Multiple league sources tell FanBuzz that "multiple" teams have expressed interest in Gregory, who could see a robust market now that he is an unrestricted free agent.

Gregory, 30, was off to a relatively fast start to the season, logging 30 tackles and a sack through the Broncos' first four games. However, with just seven total quarterback pressures, according to Pro Football Focus, it's clear that Denver was looking for more out of the position than Gregory had shown thus far.

After spending the first five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, Gregory arrived in Denver prior to the 2022 campaign. Through his first seven seasons, Gregory has produced 106 total tackles, 19.5 sacks, 23 tackles for loss, one interception and 12 pass breakups.

Given that teams are consistently on the prowl for proven pass-rush help, it wouldn't be surprising if contending teams with sights set on a playoff push make an effort to sign Gregory.

Here's a look at Gregory's three best fits:

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs and general manager Brett Veach have made a habit of scouring the waiver wire and trade market for talented players they believe they can get the most out of. With a pressing need at pass-rush — and an organizational philosophy that tends to overlook off-the-field headaches — it wouldn't be shocking if the Chiefs are near the top of Gregory's wish list, and visa versa.

Seattle Seahawks

Seattle has built a dominant defense, using a mixture of elite drafting over the past two years and prudent free agent additions supplementing its new young core. One AFC scouting director suggests that the Seahawks' scheme and bevvy of talent could be Gregory's perfect fit, because he wouldn't be relied upon to play a starter's workload.

New England Patriots

If the New England Patriots have any designs on keeping pace in the AFC East — and they seem to, after trading for cornerback J.C. Jackson — Gregory could be an ideal rotational piece with starter upside along the front seven. Matthew Judon and Josh Uche are the only Patriots defenders with more than two sacks. Judon is poised to undergo surgery to repair a torn bicep, which could open the door for Gregory to make an immediate impact in a division where the Patriots still must face Josh Allen twice and Tua Tagovailoa once more in 2023.
