Reason For Ezekiel Elliot Being Healthy Scratch Revealed
The Cowboys running back is not suffering from any type of injury. On November 2 ESPN NFL insider Todd Archer revealed that the Cowboys were exercising disciplinary action on Elliott. Before kickoff, the story got a huge update. According to NFL insider Jan Slater, the Cowboys have grown weary of Elliott's attendance record or lack thereof.
"Ezekiel Elliott is a healthy scratch today. The first of his career. According to a number of sources, Elliott has been distracted this season," Slater tweeted on November 3.
"Aside from habitual tardiness, he's missed three team meetings with Friday's meeting the final straw. Both parties decided it was best he didn't make the trip to Atlanta. Dalvin Cook and Rico Dowdle will be expected to carry the load this afternoon. "
Cowboys Fan Sound Off on Running Back
What Makes Zeke's healthy scratch in Week 9 even more interesting is that it comes days before the November 5 trade deadline.
Zeke has left a lot to be desired in the Cowboys' backfield. This season, he has accrued just 149 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. And with Dalvin Cook now a part of that core, it makes you wonder if the Cowboys running back room is getting crowded. With Tuesday's trade deadline quickly approaching, Cowboys fans sounded off on social media.
"Sounds like someone who doesn't wanna play football anymore," one fan said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"This is what Jerry's a** gets for not doing his job this offseason. No running backs. We have no ground game on O and still can't stop the run on D. If only Jerry could fire himself. Piss poor job by the front office. Glad everyone got paid though. We f****n suck!!!" another perturbed Cowboys fan added.
We've already seen a few key players move ahead of the NFL trade deadline. DeAndre Hopkins was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs and Davante Adams was traded to the New York Jets. It will be interesting to see if Zeke is next.
