On Friday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Browns would be releasing quarterback and former Heisman winner Robert Griffin III.

Griffin, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 Draft, joined the Browns last season and he appeared to making early strides to regaining his old form after a myriad of injuries derailed his career with the Redskins. However, injuries cropped up again, as Griffin injured his shoulder in Week 1 of the season. Griffin returned later in the season, starting Cleveland's final four games in rather unspectacular fasion.

With Griffin officially out, the Browns now have Cody Kessler, Kevin Hogan and Brock Osweiler as quarterbacks on the roster. Osweiler was acquired on Thursday in a trade, and it's expected that the Browns will cut him as well if they are unable to flip him for anything.

The moves are likely clearing the way for the Browns to take another quarterback in this year's Draft, as the likes of Deshaun Watson and Mitchell Trubisky will be available to them.
