Reports: Notre Dame picks up big time recruit to help bolster its defense

The Irish beat out a number of big time programs for him.

Notre Dame fans have gotten some good news.

Derrik Allen, a four-star safety from Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter, says he'll attend Notre Dame in 2018, according to several media outlets.

 

Allen, a 6'1, 205 pounder, picked Notre Dame over heavyweights such as Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Ohio State, according to 247 Sports.

Allen is the nation's fifth-ranked safety, he's the eighth-ranked overall player in Georgia and the 52nd ranked player overall in the country.
