Rex Ryan Strongly Campaigns For Another Crack at Coaching Jets

Rex Ryan is making it loud and clear — he wants back on the NFL sidelines, and he's eyeing one job in particular. The former head coach is openly campaigning for a reunion with the New York Jets, a franchise he once led to the brink of the Super Bowl in back-to-back seasons. On ESPN New York's Bart & Hahn, Ryan didn't mince words about his confidence and his desire for a second shot with Gang Green.

"How hard can you get a guy to play? Nobody's seen a team play as hard as the one I'd coach," Ryan said, his voice filled with the kind of bravado that made him a New York icon. "I'm all about the Jets. Blow it up? No, we're blowing opponents up. There's way too much talent on this team to keep playing like this."

Ryan isn't shy about drawing comparisons, either. He likened his approach to that of Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell, pointing to his ability to energize players and captivate a fanbase.

Ryan also had high praise for Jets owner Woody Johnson, a notable gesture considering recent reports of dysfunction within the organization. "Woody was fantastic to work for," Ryan said. "I've got unfinished business with this team."

The question now is whether the Jets would even entertain the idea. While Ryan's playoff record (4-2) and leadership during the Jets' last postseason runs are notable, his regular-season resume (46-50) and eventual decline make him a gamble. For now, Ryan's candidacy might be more realistic for a defensive coordinator role — a position he's been linked to in the past.

Whether the Jets bite or not, one thing is clear: Rex Ryan isn't done with football. And in true Ryan fashion, he's making sure everyone knows it.
