Roger Goodell says Nashville looks ready to host a Super Bowl

The Tennessee Titans took another big step toward their future on Friday as the franchise celebrated the topping out of the new Nissan Stadium, which is scheduled to open in 2027. Commissioner Roger Goodell attended the ceremony and, naturally, the conversation shifted to whether Nashville could finally land a Super Bowl.

"I think so much of the vision that Amy Adams Strunk and the Titans have here," Goodell said, via Jim Wyatt of the team website. "It's an important franchise, a wonderful franchise for the NFL. And I know the work they've done here from the moment you had the draft in 2019 and how you changed the trajectory of the draft.

"You took the draft and made it yours. But you did it in a way that made it incredibly impactful for the future of the NFL and the Titans."

Goodell said the league recognized Nashville as a "Super Bowl-ready city" back then, but the city lacked the right venue. He pointed to the new stadium behind him as the missing piece.

"You're building a great stage," he said. "We have a process, but I have every expectation that we're going to see that type of thing in the future."

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee sent a letter to Goodell earlier this year in support of Music City's bid to host Super Bowl LXIII, which would cap the 2028 season in February 2029.

The NFL already has its next few title games lined up. Levi's Stadium hosts Super Bowl LX this February, SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles gets Super Bowl LXI after the 2026 season and Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium will host Super Bowl LXII to end the 2027 campaign.

Las Vegas is also in contention for Super Bowl LXIII. And now, with a new stadium rising on the banks of the Cumberland River, it appears Nashville has a real shot at joining the rotation.
