A wild rumor says Johnny Manziel will return to the NFL this season but don't get on it

Is Manziel ready to return?

Johnny Manziel could be returning to the NFL on a one-year contract to the Dallas Cowboys, if you believe what those at the Gospel Herald, an entertainment site, are saying.

The story was picked up and got legs when the Daily Caller cited the rumor.

There's absolutely no substance to the story, just suggesting that Dak Prescott isn't a franchise quarterback and retelling Jerry Jones' love affair with the former Texas A&M quarterback.

Manziel likely isn't returning to the NFL anytime soon after his disastrous summer, and it will likely take an alternative route (CFL, Arena League) for him to get back to the big show, if he ever does.

Until there's more substantial reporting on this one, don't consider it any more than a pipe dream.
