Barkley entered the game needing 30 yards to break Terrell Davis' record for the most rushing yards (2,476) in a single season, including the playoffs. He rushed for 31 yards during the first half.
The play that broke Davis' record was a 2-yard run that ran out the clock in the second quarter. This moved Barkley to 2,478 yards on the season, including the playoffs.

The free-agent acquisition was not yet done. He continued adding yards during the third quarter. Ten of these yards drove the Eagles to the Chiefs 43-yard line. Another 22 yards came on a pass from Hurts, which set the Eagles up on the 4-yard line. The big play ultimately led to more points as Jake Elliott kicked a field goal to make the score 27-0.
This was not a simple reception as Barkley bobbled the ball while falling backward onto the ground. He pinned the ball against his helmet and somehow completed the catch.
The 2024 season, Barkley's first with the Eagles, has seemingly featured nonstop big plays. He powered the offense while rushing for 2,005 yards in the regular season. He had an opportunity to break Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record (2,105) in the final game but ultimately rested while the backups faced off with the Giants.
Resting Barkley was supposed to set him up for a postseason run. The plan paid off for the Eagles as Barkley rushed for 119 yards in a wild-card win against the Packers. He then rushed for 205 yards and two touchdowns during a divisional-round win over the Rams.
Barkley had fewer yards during the NFC Championship, but he delivered big plays against the rival Commanders. He rushed for three touchdowns as the Eagles set an NFC Championship record with 55 points.
