Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley is one of the best running backs in NFL history. In 2024, he became just the ninth player in the league's history to rush for 2,000 yards or more.

But before Saquon was making history on Sundays, he was making plays on Saturdays during his days at Penn State. And it was in Happy Valley where he met his college sweetheart Anna Cogdon. The two went official in 2017.
In a January 2018 Instagram post that celebrated their one year anniversary, Cogdon admitted that "acting a little crazy," is what led to her and Saquon getting together.
One year with my king!" the post reads. "Who would've known that acting a little crazy on this day would lead to the start of what we have!! you have taught me so much in such a short period of time. thank you for your wisdom, patience & understanding - you are truly one of a kind. your love is never taken for granted."
Shortly after Saquon announced his decision to enter the NFL draft. And when the New York Giants selected him with the second overall pick Cogdon was right there with him. But that wasn't the only thing that Barkley celebrated that spring. Just two days after realizing his lifelong dream, the pair celebrated the birth of their first child, their daughter Jayla who was born on April 24, 2018. They also welcomed a son Saquon Barkley Jr, who they call "SJ" for short, in 2023.
In February 2025, Saquon revealed his engagement to Cogdon. Following the announcement he praised her for the instrumental role she has played in his success.
"I can't be the athlete I am and have the success I have so in my career without the help of her," Barkley said.
"She's been super helpful and always has my back, not only in football but throughout life there's a lot that goes on. But as we continue to grow and mature and go through life together, we continue getting closer and continue to get even better."
