According to the NFL, Barkley is the first player in league history to score multiple touchdowns against a single team in three different games in a single season.
The veteran running back entered Sunday's playoff game with four touchdowns against the NFC East rivals. He scored two rushing touchdowns on Nov. 14, 2024, as the Eagles won 26-18. He then rushed for 150 yards and two more touchdowns on Dec. 22, 2024, as the Eagles lost 36-33.
Barkley kept his momentum going against the Commanders early in the NFC Championship. He took the handoff on the Eagles' opening play and broke free for a 60-yard touchdown.
Barkley's second touch came at the goal line. He took the handoff from Jalen Hurts and scampered to the right side of the line for a four-yard touchdown. This took him to six scores against the Commanders in a single season, which was a historic mark.
Interestingly enough, Barkley was not the only player making history during the NFC Championship. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels set a record of his own after leading a touchdown drive in the second quarter.
The Commanders' rookie found wide receiver Terry McLaurin for a 36-yard touchdown to bring his team within two points of the Eagles. This was his fifth touchdown of the playoffs, which is the most by a rookie in NFL history.
Daniels kicked off the playoffs by throwing two touchdowns as he led the Commanders to a wild-card win over the Buccaneers. He then threw two more touchdowns in the divisional round against the Lions. This performance helped the Commanders upset the top-seeded Lions and secure a trip to the NFC Championship.
