Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen is facing mounting questions about his future following a second consecutive season of missing the playoffs. Despite the scrutiny, Steichen is keeping his cards close to the chest when it comes to discussions with Colts owner Jim Irsay about his job status.

Asked if he believes he'll be back next season based on his conversations with Irsay, Steichen was firm: "I'll keep our conversations private," he told reporters. "I do have really good conversations with him weekly."
Steichen's response suggested he values the confidentiality of their discussions, but also hinted that there's mutual respect and ongoing communication between the two.
Despite the disappointing season, Steichen remains optimistic about the team's future.
"I think we're really close, I do," he shared, reflecting on the potential the team has to improve. "We're building something here, and I think we can take it to the next level in 2025." It's clear that Steichen sees this year as part of the process, rather than the end of the road.
However, Steichen acknowledged the 7-9 record heading into the season finale isn't anywhere near the expectations set for the Colts. "It's a frustrating season, the ups and downs of it, obviously didn't go the way we wanted as a football team," he admitted. "We've got one more opportunity to go out there as a football team and finish it the right way." The coach's words reflect both a sense of accountability and determination to end the season on a high note, regardless of the outcome.
While the Colts' future under Steichen remains uncertain, it's clear the head coach is focused on finishing the season strong and building for a better 2025.
