Shannon Sharpe Comes Clean After NSFW Instagram Live Incident: 'My Phone Wasn’t Hacked'

NFL Hall of Fame tight end and current ESPN analyst, Shannon Sharpe, had gone live on Instagram Wednesday, evidently by accident as the viewers heard not-safe-for-work noises in the background coming from him and a woman, apparently named Michelle, "getting it on."

That is to say, like most people who accidentally post something inappropriate, Sharpe originally took to social media claiming he was hacked.

The 56-year-old posted the statement, "Beware my @shannonsharpe84 Instagram was hacked this morning, my team and I are working vigorously to figure this out."

Nevertheless, as most already knew this was a lie, Sharpe then later admitted on Wednesday night's episode of his Nightcap show, with Chad Johnson aka "Ochocinco," that he wasn't hacked after all.

"Obviously, I'm embarrassed," Sharpe stated. "Someone that is extremely, extremely private, and to have one of your most intimate details, the audio heard for the entire world to hear, I'm embarrassed for a number of reasons."

"I'm very disappointed in myself. Not for the act," he clarified. "I think there are millions, billions of people, consenting age that engage in activities, but to have your most intimate detail, the audio to be heard, I'm disappointed in myself... But guys, this was not staged. I came in, threw phone on the bed, engaged in an activity. I did not know IG live, I've never been on IG live, I've never turned IG live on. So I don't know how it works."

As it turns out, Sharpe didn't even know that the world had witnessed him engaging in X-rated activities until his phone started getting blown up from people trying to call him. The one who actually broke the news to Sharpe was actor/singer Jamie Foxx.

"And so, all of a sudden my other phone is going off," Sharpe said. "And people are calling me (on) FaceTime that I've never talked to a day in my life on FaceTime... I'm like, 'Why are y'all calling me FaceTime?' And after a while, Jamie, he says, 'Shannon, you on IG live.' I'm like, 'Doing what?' You know? 'What am I on IG live for? I ain't hit no IG live button.' He says, 'uh, they can hear.'"

Sharpe continued, "And he [Foxx] said, they can hear me. I said, 'Hear me doing what?' He says, 'it sounds like you were having sex.' Man, my heart sank. It dropped... I called my agents, the agency, I called ESPN, I was like, got to tell them the truth. I said, I just got to tell them the truth. My phone wasn't hacked. It wasn't a prank. It was me being a healthy, active male."

All in all, in view of Sharpe's current job as a sports commentator/TV personality, the former Denver Broncos star certainly has no where to hide, as he currently makes weekly appearances on First Take with Stephen A. Smith, since signing a multi-year contract earlier this year with ESPN. This comes after spending seven years sitting across from Skip Bayless as a co-host on Fox Sports' Undisputed show.

One thing is for certain, Sharpe now knows how Instagram Live works, so the eight-time Pro Bowler may want to be more careful when handling his phone next time or as he joked himself, it may be best just to leave his phone in the car before making love.
