The NFL announced the news on Monday, Feb. 2, while preparing for the Super Bowl 60 matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. According to a release, teams will continue to visit Bernabéu Stadium — home to Real Madrid C.F — in 2026 and beyond.
The NFL did not provide any details about the teams who will play in any of these games, nor did the league provide details about the length of this multi-year agreement.
The Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs, and Miami Dolphins are the three teams with marketing rights in Spain as part of the NFL's Global Markets Program. The Dolphins played in last season's inaugural game in Madrid, defeating the Commanders 16-13 in overtime.
"The 2025 NFL Madrid game at the Bernabéu was a pivotal moment for the sport in Spain, and we are delighted to confirm that we will return to play a regular season game in 2026 in a multi-year partnership with the City of Madrid, Comunidad de Madrid and Real Madrid C.F.," said NFL Spain Country Manager Rafa De Los Santos.
"This multi-year commitment to playing games in Madrid — a world-class global cultural and sporting destination — underlines our commitment to the market and enables us to continue to engage fans year-round and invest long-term in initiatives like NFL Flag and youth participation nationwide."
The NFL has provided some details about the lineup of International Games for the 2026 season. For example, one game will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia. It will feature the Los Angeles Rams.
One game will take place at Maracanã Stadium in Rio De Janeiro (Brazil), one will take place at FC Bayern Munich Arena in Munich (Germany), and three games in London (United Kingdom).
The league will only continue to expand into international markets as the years progress. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has stated in the past that the league also wants to play a game in Asia.
