Steelers Coach Matt Canada Gets Caught With Burner Account

It's been an ugly start in Pittsburgh and it's about to reach another level for Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada.

Within the past 24 hours, Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada has taken some brutal criticism by fans, which has basically become a weekly tradition.

But the sharpest dig, by far, came from Steelers legendary quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who — during his latest podcast — said he "hated" Canada's crucial fourth-down call in Sunday's loss against the Texans.

Now, things have somehow gotten worse, as a burner account created by Canada on Twitter/X appears to have been unearthed. And, boy oh boy, it is not great.

In this day and age of incessant criticism, it's one thing to create a burner account to let off some steam and defend yourself. Especially when that person happens to be coaching for a high profile NFL franchise in a city where the team means everything.

It's quite another to create it by using your official team email, and that's exactly what Canada appears to have done. Just an unbelievably bad gaffe. The letters that show up for the email confirmation fit just a little too well for it to be some kind of improbable coincidence.

The account, under the handle @DannyFootball77, doesn't have a single tweet to its name. Yet when you click on the "replies" tab, it's a visual feast of defending all things Matt Canada. To his credit, Canada has gone ahead and deleted some of the most damning replies, though plenty still remain.

And naturally, someone got to several of his greatest hits before he could wipe them away like they never existed. The worst of which can be found here.

Naming your boss, even on a burner account — a seemingly obvious one — might be the dumbest thing you do when your back is already against the wall with every sports talk show and podcast blasting you. It's such a terribly bad look. Particularly when Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin seems to be the last one defending his OC.

There's a whole reel of his pro-Matt Canada replies from the burner that be found right here, as multiple internet sleuths went out of their way to deliver the goods.

If only Matt Canada had known about the old "forgot password" trick, no one would be preparing to ask the tough questions. Based on the replies, though, we are already fully expecting a slew of excuses that are just as ridiculous.
