Steelers Safety Weighs In On Aaron Rodgers Rumors: 'Leave Him At Retirement Home'

The Pittsburgh Steelers face a pivotal decision at quarterback this offseason, as both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are free agents after solid 2024 seasons. Despite their occasional strong performances, the Steelers could be looking in a new direction for their signal-caller.

As the team evaluates its future, speculation is growing about other potential quarterback moves, including the possibility of adding former MVP Aaron Rodgers.

CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones reported last week that the New York Jets are expected to part ways with Rodgers, following a tumultuous 2024 season.

"The New York Jets are expected to part ways with the 41-year-old signal-caller," Jones wrote. This news has led to speculation about Rodgers' next move, with teams like the Steelers potentially entering the conversation. However, not everyone in Pittsburgh is on board with the idea of adding the aging quarterback.

Steelers safety DeShon Elliott made his thoughts clear in an Instagram post reacting to speculation linking Rodgers to Pittsburgh. Elliott commented, "Leave his ass at the retirement home," making it evident that he is not enthusiastic about the possibility of Rodgers joining the Steelers.

Rodgers, who missed most of the 2023 season due to an Achilles injury, threw for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in 2024, despite the Jets finishing with a 5-12 record. While he became the fifth quarterback in NFL history to reach 500 career touchdowns, questions remain about how much interest he will have on the open market at this stage of his career.

The Steelers will have to weigh their options carefully as they chart their path forward at quarterback, balancing future potential with short-term goals.
