The Steelers want Aaron Rodgers back next season. And no, it's not some elaborate Jedi mind trick to get him to retire. They actually want him under center in 2026.

But they're in no rush.
Per Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, Pittsburgh is content to let Rodgers go full Zen Master and disappear for the offseason while they give Will Howard some real reps.
With Mason Rudolph looking more like a placeholder than a solution, Howard has a legit shot to climb the ladder while Rodgers stays off the grid.
That doesn't mean Howard's the answer. He was the 185th overall pick for a reason. Maybe it was the Shedeur Sanders traffic jam in the QB draft class. Maybe not. But Pittsburgh's gonna see what they've got while Rodgers does whatever it is Rodgers does.
And let's be honest, this is Rodgers. He's gonna milk this decision, same as last year, Florio opines.
The Steelers are ready for it. Maybe he shows. Maybe he doesn't. Maybe Minnesota talks themselves into a rental year. Or maybe it's Pittsburgh or Del Boca Vista.
Whatever happens, 2026 is shaping up to be the final curtain call. Rodgers turns 43 in December. Not everyone gets to Tom Brady their way into their mid-40s.
