The veteran receiver has torn his ACL. He will go on Injured Reserve and miss the rest of the season as the team moves forward looking for other receivers to step up for quarterback CJ Stroud.
The injury occurred during the third quarter of Sunday's 23-20 win over the rival Colts. Diggs ran a route against defensive back Kenny Moore, and he suffered a non-contact injury. He left the field and received medical attention. The Texans ruled Diggs out early in the fourth quarter.
Diggs, who joined the Texans via an offseason trade with the Bills, has appeared in all eight games this season. He has caught 47 passes for 496 yards and three touchdowns as Houston has gone 6-2. He rushed for another score against the rival Jaguars.

This season marked Diggs's 10th in the NFL. He spent the first five seasons of his career with the Vikings, and he delivered numerous big moments while working with multiple quarterbacks. This includes a game-winning touchdown catch against the Saints, which sent the Vikings to the NFC Championship game in January 2018.
The Vikings traded Diggs to the Bills ahead of the 2020 season. He spent four seasons in Buffalo and earned four consecutive Pro Bowl nominations while topping 5,300 yards receiving and scoring 37 touchdowns.
The Texans will have a short turnaround after the loss of Diggs. The team heads to New Jersey for a Thursday night matchup against the Jets, who seek their third win of the season.
This is the second injury to an important piece of the offense this season. Nico Collins, who was on pace to break the single-season receiving record after the first four games of the season, has been on Injured Reserve since Oct. 9 with a hamstring injury. He will not return until after the Jets game.
Tank Dell will be the No. 1 receiver against the Jets. He has 229 yards receiving and two touchdowns this season. Xavier Hutchinson, John Metchie III, and Robert Woods will all have expanded roles while trying to replicate Diggs's and Collins's production.
According to longtime NFL reporter John McClain, the Texans have other options for Stroud and the offense. McClain noted that the team used three tight ends — Dalton Schultz, Cade Stover, and Teagan Quitoriano — during the win over the Colts.
