Swift has repeatedly been reported as the worst offender in the celebrity world when it comes to emissions from her personal private jet. Her jet reportedly emitted over 9,000 tons of Carbon Dioxide over the first half of 2022 alone, and while it's been since noted that she is not the passenger in all of these instances as she has routinely lent out the jet to others, it's not something Swift would like associated with her person and brand. She has consistently worked to present herself as socially conscious, and flying habits that present a legitimate threat to the environment do not fit that persona.
Enter the Kelce situation. As she attended her first Chiefs game in his family suite, nothing seemed amiss. She enjoyed a wonderful Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium as the Chiefs walloped the Chicago Bears, and Travis found the end zone. But her second game following the team was on the road, and the opponent was the New York Jets.
No, the franchise isn't called the New York Private Jets, but it's close enough that now, when you search "Taylor Swift Jet" the results you see are no longer about her private aircraft, but about her appearances on Sunday Night Football. SEO has done its magic, and the results about her environmental offenses have been effectively buried.
Was this likely a ploy just to make herself look better in the eyes of the public? It's not too likely. The private jet search results will float back to the top after the Chiefs-Jets game is a bit farther in the past. Swift also is a noted lover of New York City, and would take just about any excuse to head to the area for a weekend, whether it helps her public image or not. And lastly, it just seems a bit beyond her to forge an entire relationship- even bonding with Kelce's mother and wives of other Chiefs players- just to boost her SEO a bit, when her popularity isn't exactly dipping right now.
But it will be interesting to see how many games she attends going forward, starting this Sunday when the Chiefs visit the Minnesota Vikings, a trip that ironically enough would require Swift to hop on the jet in order to attend. That being said, her Eras Tour resumes Friday October 18, and this leg will run through Sunday November 26th, so it's hard to know just how available she'll be to visit NFL stadiums for any purpose other than selling out the venue and performing a remarkable three hour, 44-song set.
