The 49ers got flagged for celebrating a touchdown that didn't actually happen

The 49ers lose another one but almost had a cool touchdown celebration for SportsCenter

On a play emblematic of the 49ers' entire football follies-like season, the team got penalized for celebrating a touchdown they never even scored.

It happened in the second quarter when Shaun Draughn blocked a Chicago punt and Dontae Johnson returned it for an apparent touchdown. Several teammates congregated in the end zone and one of them, Rashard Robinson plopped onto the snow-covered field and started making a snow angel.

That's all well and good, and was actually a cool little celebration —- only Johnson stepped out of bounds at the 4-yard line. So, not only was the touchdown called back, the penalty stood and took the ball all the way back to the  Bears 19-yard line.

Adding injury to insult (it makes more sense to reverse the saying in this case), San Francisco failed to get the ball into the end zone and instead came away with a field goal.
