The 49ers still owe an insane amount of money to their 3 fired coaches over past 3 years

By firing Chip Kelly over the weekend, the San Francisco 49ers just upped the total amount of money they owe to coaches they've jettisoned in the past three years to an astronomical figure.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the organization owes some $69 million to Kelly and previous head coaches and assistant coaches.

Kelly was fired after just one year at the helm and is still owed a reported $7 million of the four-year, $24 million deal he signed last offseason.

The head coach Kelly replaced, Jim Tomsula, endured an identical fate. He was also fired after just one season with the 49ers still beholden to him for $7 million.

Before that it was the far more successful Jim Harbaugh. In four seasons, Harbaugh compiled a record of 49-22 with three NFC title game appearances and one Super Bowl appearance.
