Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, has notified all 32 NFL teams they can negotiate directly with Tony Romo or his agent ...
...but there is one big catch:
So, it seems Jones is (for the time being) insisting on working out a trade for a 37-year-old, injury-plagued quarterback who no longer has a realistic spot on the Dallas Cowboys (you don't really expect Romo to hang around as Dak Prescott's backup, do you?)
The trade route seems to be unikely. Denver - rumored to be one of Romo's preferred destinations - says it won't trade for him. The Houston Texans - another possibility —- say they won't trade for him, either.
If those fall through, Romo could retire and go into TV work, where he apparently has some options.
