The Ezekiel Elliott era looks like it's about to launch in Dallas

Ezekiel Elliott may play in his first preseason game this week according to a team official.

Dallas fans may get their first glimpse of top draft pick Ezekiel Elliott this week. The Dallas Morning News reports Elliott may play in his first preseason game this Thursday at Seattle.

Elliott, who was the 4th overall pick in the draft last spring, has had limited practice time since he strained a hamstring earlier this month. He has yet to appear in a preseason game, but team vice president Stephen Jones says the team hopes that will change against the Seahawks. Elliott practiced for the first time since the injury last week.

Cowboys officials have previously said that they're being cautious with Elliott and expect him to be ready to play in the season opener against the Giants on Sept. 11.
