According to a press release on Feb. 7, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be the designated home team for the league's first-ever regular season game in Dublin, Ireland. This matchup will take place at Croke Park. The NFL says this is the largest sporting arena in Ireland and headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA).

The NFL will announce the date and opponent when it releases the full 2025 schedule.

The choice to send the Steelers to Ireland for the historic game is fitting considering the team's ties to the country. The late Steelers Chairman Daniel M. Rooney served as the United States ambassador to the country from 2009-12.

Additionally, the Steelers played a preseason game at Croke Park against the Bears in 1997.

"We are very excited to be the designated team in the first regular season game to be played in Ireland this upcoming season," said Steelers President Art Rooney II, who has family in Ireland.

"The opportunity for the Pittsburgh Steelers to play in Ireland is truly special, not only because of the Rooney family history there, but also to play in front of the growing number of Steelers fans in Ireland. We are thrilled to be part of this historic event to represent Pittsburgh in a game that brings the NFL to the great sports fans in Ireland."

Along with becoming the designated team for the trip to Croke Park, the Steelers signed a four-year deal with Aer Lingus making it the Official Airline of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The International Series has continued to expand in recent seasons as the NFL has continued to make history. This will continue in 2025 and 2026 as the league takes on new and familiar territory alike.

Past announcements have revealed that the Jaguars will head to Wembley Stadium in 2025 while the Jets and Browns will both host games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The Dolphins will host the first-ever regular-season game in Madrid, Spain, while the Colts will host the first-ever regular-season game in Berlin, Germany.

The league also announced that it will head to Australia in 2026. The Rams will host the first-ever regular-season game in Melbourne, Australia.
