This could certainly throw a wrench into the 2016 college coaching carousel.

According to Sports Illustrated's Peter King, the NFL is currently targeting two college football coaches over everyone else: Houston's Tom Herman and Stanford's David Shaw.
Herman is currently the hottest coaching candidate in football. In a year and a half at Houston, Herman is 18-2, with big wins over Louisville, Florida State, and Oklahoma in that time frame. Before then, Herman was the offensive coordinator with Ohio State when they won the 2014 College Football Playoff.

While Jim Harbaugh was the one that turned around the Stanford program, Shaw has done a fantastic job at maintaining greatness for the Cardinal. Stanford is on a bit of a downswing with two losses already this season, but Shaw is 57-16 with the school in his sixth season.
It make sense why the NFL — and college teams for that matter — would want Shaw or Herman; both are already two of the best coaches in all of football, and their youth and offensive philosophies would likely be a wanted shakeup for an NFL team looking to make a big change at the top.
