This was the terrifying moment Brett Favre knew his NFL career was over

On a cold snowy December night in Minneapolis back in 2010 the Vikings lost to the Bears in the second to the last game of the regular season, and Brett Favre said goodbye to the NFL for good.

On third-and-4 from the Bears 48 yard line, Bears defensive end Corey Wootton got in the backfield, grabbed Favre by his non-throwing shoulder and slammed him to the cold turf. Favre, a career leader in almost every major statistical category for quarterbacks, laid motionless for a few seconds before getting to his feet and walking off with his head hung down.

It was his final NFL game, he retired from football — for the last time — less than one month later.
