ESPN broadcaster Chris Berman stepped down from most of his long-held positions with ESPN after the NFL season came to an end, and ESPN will have to go a long way to replacing Berman and the several hats he wore for the network.
According to journalist Jim Miller, though, ESPN is closing in on a couple of replacements for Berman, which could include Sam Ponder on Sunday Countdown, Suzy Kolber on Monday Night Football, and Trey Wingo on the NFL Draft.

Miller notes that no deals have been made to officially replace Berman at these positions.
Berman's move away from the network was announced back in January, as Berman will no longer be doing his coverage on ESPN NFL's studio show, the NFL Draft, and the MLB Home Run Derby. Going forward, Berman will be limited to part-time roles with the network.
Berman is one of of the longest-tenured employees at ESPN, having worked with the network since 1979. During that time, Berman has done just about everything for the network, participating in coverage for the NFL, MLB, PGA, and NHL. Berman was also a main-stay for ESPN's signature program, Sportscenter for most of his 38-year tenure with the company.
